I have had many turntables come my way – some I have restored and resold, and others I have held onto. The Sony PS-X60 is among the very best turntables ever produced. It is elegant, but extremely advanced. It keeps perfect speed and is incredibly simple to operate. If you can get your hands on one that is in good shape, it will surpass anything produced today x20. A turntable of this caliber would simply cost too much to produce, and would sell for thousands and thousands of dollars. If you can, buy this turntable (and give it to me as a backup. lol). It is a true classic and makes other turntables seem inferior.
I got this turntable since 1983, used it until 1991 – ship back to Thailand and been in storage until 2011 (that’s right 20 years in storage.) Took it to a local turntable specialty shop for service (cost me $60) and it now works great. This model has +/- 3mm VTA adjustment. This helps a lot because I have a few cartridges with different heights. Getting the correct VTA is important for the ML or Shibata needles. Motor is very quiet, heavy cast aluminum platter and well balanced – makes it very stable.
Just picked up this unit about two weeks ago. I also own a PS X5 and a PS X40. The PSX 60 is by far the best sounding turntable I own paired with an Ortofon 2m Blue The sound is very pure
